Edie has spent her life catering to the needs of others. When her daughter Nancy wants to put her in a nursing home, the 83-year-old decides to take her life into her own hands and fulfill an almost forgotten dream: to climb Mount Suilven in the Scottish Highlands. With her dusty hiking gear, she dares the adventure and hires young Jonny to prepare her for the challenging climb. The latter quickly gets to know her stubbornness, but also learns more and more about her history - and Edie gradually begins to trust others and herself. So both stumble unexpectedly into a friendship that turns their lives wonderfully upside down. In the leading role of the brash but lovable Edie, a brilliantly performing Sheila Hancock quickly makes her way into the hearts of the audience. In breathtaking images, the film captures the beauty of the Scottish Highlands and casually reveals the uniqueness of life. The delightful audience favorite tells of missed opportunities, the fulfillment of long-cherished dreams and the courage to go one's own way.
