Oscar®-nominated "Oppenheimer" star Cillian Murphy literally stumbles through happier climes here: a party-happy comedy by Sally Potter. To celebrate her appointment as Minister of Health in the shadow cabinet, ambitious politician Janet invites close friends and colleagues to her London townhouse. When her husband Bill bursts out with an explosive confession, the party takes a surprising turn. Suddenly, the other guests reveal long-kept secrets, whereupon relationships, friendships, political convictions and life plans are questioned. Within a very short time the cultivated atmosphere tips over into an emotional chaos of mutual accusations. While the morsels are burning in the oven, the shreds fly like whiskey glasses in the living room and the party is inexorably heading for the big bang. With obvious pleasure Sally Potter blows up a left-wing liberal party society in her fast-paced comedy and proves that truth still has the greatest explosive power. With a sure sense of style, she stages her brilliantly performed all-star cast, which delivers one biting battle of words after the next and in the process takes a delightful look at London's upper class, post-post feminists and long-established left-wing intellectuals.
