Based on a true story, CHARLATAN tells the life of Czech healer Jan Mikolášek, who cured hundreds of people with herbal medicines. What begins as the journey of a young man interested in alternative medicine soon becomes a fascinating portrait of a brilliant genius whose passion does not go unnoticed for long. Treating celebrities of National Socialism and Communism, bringing him fame and fortune, Mikolášek soon finds himself caught in the dichotomy of morality and cruelty, light and darkness, love and hate. A paradoxical life that is put to the test by his love for his assistant František and by his former patrons, who suddenly turn against him...
