Der Wissenschaftler Devlin (Toby Wynn-Davies) hat ein Gerät entwickelt, das einen Tornado steuern kann. Beim ersten Einsatz kommt es jedoch zu einer Fehlfunktion und der Wirbelsturm gerät außer Kontrolle. Als der Tornado auf eine Tankstelle trifft, fängt er Feuer und verwandelt sich in einen superbedrohlichen 'Firenado'. Verzweifelt versuchen Devlin und seine Kollegen, die bedrohten Menschen in letzter Sekunde zu retten. Dabei kommen sie jedoch einer Gangsterbande in die Quere, die das Chaos nutzen will, um einen Mafia-Buchhalter auszurauben...

Scientist Devlin (Toby Wynn-Davies) has developed a device that can control a tornado. However, during the first use, a malfunction occurs and the hurricane gets out of control. When the tornado hits a gas station, it catches fire and turns into a super-threatening 'Firenado'. Desperately, Devlin and his colleagues try to save the threatened people at the last second. In the process, however, they get in the way of a gang of gangsters who want to use the chaos to rob a mafia accountant...
