Hintergrund
The movie follows on seamlessly from the brutal cliffhanger of "Fast X". We remember: Dom and his son were trapped while Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) blew up the dam. "Fast Forever" therefore has to start with a spectacular rescue. In terms of content, Vin Diesel has promised to close the circle: The movie is to return to its roots. This means fewer space excursions and more classic street racing in Los Angeles, where it all began in 2001. It's all about the ultimate showdown against Dante, who wants to destroy the "family" for good.
Probably the most sensitive topic is the announced return of Brian O'Conner. Vin Diesel emphasized several times that the saga cannot end without a real farewell to Paul Walker's character. How exactly this will be resolved technically - whether through CGI, body doubles (his brothers) or clever camera work - is one of the production's best-kept secrets. One thing is certain: have your handkerchiefs ready!
The film was originally planned for 2025, but nothing came of it. There are several reasons for the delay: Firstly, the Hollywood strike of 2023/24 had a long-lasting effect on the scripts, and secondly, they don't want to rush the finale. Director Louis Leterrier, who already saved "Fast X", is back in the director's chair. According to reports, the budget is also being tweaked - the predecessor was extremely expensive, which is why "Fast Forever" is to be produced more efficiently but in a more "earthy" way.
